electrical gfci for a pool , fountain motor?
on a 240 volt 20 amp 2 pole gfci going to a pool, fountain motor . The motor has 2 hots and a ground , the gfci asks for a neutral , what do you do with out a neutral to land on the 2 pole gfci?
Connect the coiled white wire from the breaker to the neutral bar, leave the terminal on the breaker empty. Connect the ground from the motor to a ground. Some hot tubs have controls that use 120V and some current returns on the white, and if the white isn't connected to the GFCI breaker it will detect the imbalance from the hots as a "Ground Fault" and will activate the "Circuit Interrupter". With the motor you described if the motor is in good condition and there is no leakage to ground (a fault), the current on the two hots will be equal, and will not appear to the breaker as though a fault exists.
