I have an AQ120 4 cyl engine. The expansion tank (red box) apparently blew out a plug when it overheated?
It appears that my raw water pump stopped pumping and the next thing I knew, there was a burst of steam in the engine compartment and I shut it down. I can fix the raw water pump, but wondered if the plug was simply a freeze plug type design that can just be tapped back into place? Where do I buy it if that is the case? Also looking for a new strainer housing as mine has a crack in it.
The good news is that yes you can put a new plug in and if you need to tap it out to a larger size that's fine.As for replacing your strainer,I am not sure if you can still buy a new one or not.You can check with a distributor called C C Marine to see if they sell them.I have found that they sell allot of parts for older engines.If not then you could check at a boat wrecker for a used one if there is one near you.Hope this helps and good luck.
