FLOS Taraxacum is a cocoon concept based designer illumination light diffuser device which is the first product from famous global designer illumination device retailer FLOS – based in Italy. This diffuser light was crafted in 1960's and is one of the most best selling items from FLOS. It was designed by the founders of Flos known as Castiglioni brothers – Achille Castiglioni and Giacomo Castiglioni.
How icons are made
The Castiglioni brothers decided to try out something new in designer illumination device genre which resulted in the introduction of FLOS Taraxacum. It is a modification and improvisation of the imported Cocoon from USA. It has a White powder coated internal steel structure sprayed with a unique cocoon resin to create the diffuser which is then protected by a transparent sprayed on finish. It uses MAX 100W E27 HSGS/F lamp inside for lighting purpose and which then gets diffused by the finishing. The ceiling hanging suspension cable is 4000 mm long in length. The taraxacum has a length of 640 mm and 870 mm width. The design is exceptional as it was the first of it's kind in three dimensional designer illumination device.
